Part 12: Wind Temple

Getting to the Wind Temple

Teleport to Windfall Island and set sail north to find the island with the wind spout. Use the Iron Boots to get to the source of the wind and then smash it with the Skull Hammer. Enter the cave and learn the song that is on the stone tablet - the Wind God's Aria.

After the cutscene head back to the King of Red Lions and teleport to the Forest Haven located at F6 on the Sea Chart. Travel to the top of the ledge near the top of the waterfall and jump down into the right waterfall - the one with the music notes coming out of it.

Speak with Makar and teach him the Wind God's Aria. After learning the song - Makar will gain the knowledge that he is the sage of the Wind Temple. Now take Makar to the island located at D1 on the Sea Chart. Use the Wind Waker to play the Wind God's Aria near the stone tablet to open the entrance to the Wind Temple.

Wind Temple

Take Makar inside the temple and through the first door. In this room should be two cyclones along with a couple switches resembling springs. Take control of Makar and travel to the opposite side of the room pass the cyclones. Fly up and land on the ledge to find a switch that you must step on - making the cyclones cease.

Now take control of Link once more and climb onto any of the spring switches. Use the Iron Boot to weight it down and then unequip them to spring into the air - making sure to have the Deku Leaf ready so that you can float across to the other side of the room onto the ledge with Makar.

Grab Makar and travel through the door nearby. Use the Bow to stun the enemies in this room and kill them with the sword. Use the Deku Leaf on the propeller to move the obstacle out of the pathway. Pick up Makar and run to the other side of the room where the two soil patches are located.

Use Makar to plant seeds in both of the soil patches in order to unlock the door forward. In the next room take control of Makar and then fly over to each of the ledges to plant seeds in all of the patches of soil. The door forward will get unlocked as well as Makar getting grabbed by a Floormaster.

Head through the door to the right of the room and Makar will shout at you. Walk over and speak with Makar to learn that you can free him by becoming as heavy as the Great Deku Tree. Go through the door opposite of the one you entered and kill off the Peahats.

Now drop down to the floor beneath and kill the Floormaster. Use the Deku Leaf on the propeller to move the wall. Jump onto the spring switch and use the Iron Boots in order to shoot up to the top level again. Walk across the platform to find a chest in the middle of the left wall containing a Joy Pendant.

Getting the Dungeon Map

Continue across the room towards the stone tablet and go through the door on the right side. Once inside this room use the Deku Leaf and the whirlwind to travel across to the ledge with the switch. Push the switch and then float across to the platform that appears.

Run across the platform - a gate - to find a Wizzrobe that is trying to attack you. Kill the Wizzrobe and then float across to the south of the room to reach a chest containing the Dungeon Map. Now float back across to the ledge you just float from and make sure to cut the grass for Magic Jars.

Jump and float towards the west section of the room through the gate making sure to use the whirlwind to land on the next gate that Link comes across. Now use the next whirlwind to make it to the ledge with the Wizzrobe. Kill it and then enter the door to find a switch.

Use the Iron Boots to press the switch and then use the Skull Hammer to break the wood on top of the blue cauldron. Now use the Deku Leaf to float down into the newly opened area and over to the chest that contains the Compass.

Continue traveling down into the area to the floor. You will see two soil patches and a couple doors. Go through the door that is unlocked - it is at the south side of the room. Once in this room, equip the Iron Boots when you are on top of one of the weak spots in the floor.

Now push the spring switch to the symbol on the floor to the south of the room. Push the block in the room right beside the spring switch. Climb on the block and then the spring switch - use the Iron Boots to shoot Link up to the higher level to find a chest that contains a small key.

Getting the Hookshot

Leave the room and go through the locked door directly in front of you. Defeat all of the enemies in this room - the orange Wizzrobe can be easily defeated by using the boomerang to stun it - and a chest will appear containing the Hookshot.

Use the Hookshot on the target above the spike to travel to the ledge. Use the Skull Hammer on the spike to unlock the door. Exit back into the circular room. Use the Hookshot in combination with the Deku Leaf and Iron Boots to navigate back up to the ledge where Makar resides.

Equip the Iron Boots and use the Hookshot on the target of the giant head statue blocking Makar and a chest containing a Joy Pendant. Grab Makar and drop down to the bottom of the room once more. Take control of Makar and plant seeds in both of the soil patches.

While still controlling Makar - jump into the newly formed cyclone and shoot all the way up into the top of the room. Land near the door to the south and switch back to Link. Using the Deku Leaf - float up to the top of the room and land near the chest to the east side for a Joy Pendant.

Now float into the cyclone one more time in order to land near Makar and the door. Grab Makar and go inside the door - kill all of the enemies with the Bow and Sword and then open the chest behind the gate for a small key. Pick up Makar and exit the room.

Take control of Makar and fly over to the east of the room near the door 1 level below you. Change back to Link and float over the Makar. Pick up Makar and enter the door. Using only Link - jump down to the lower level and use the Deku Leaf on the propeller to move the wall.

Getting the Big Key

Now use the Iron Boots to spring back onto the higher level. Grab Makar and travel across the room to the stone tablet. Play the Wind God's Aria and then pick up Makar again before entering the door. Defeat all of the Darknuts in the room to open the gate blocking the chest with the Big Key.

Pick up Makar and exit the room. Use the Deku Leaf on the propeller and then grab Makar. Run across the room and go through the door opposite of the one you came through. Take control of Makar and fly directly across the gap in the center of the room to the door. Switch to Link and float over to Makar.

Grab Makar and go through the door. Use the Hooktshot on the trees to make your way across the gaps between the ledges. Take control of Makar and fly over to Link. Pick up Makar and enter the door. Take control of Makar and fly over to the ledges to plant seeds making sure to use Link whenever you need to defeat one of the enemies.

After planting all of the seeds - Makar should be at the top near the door. Switch to Link and use the Hookshot to climb across the path to Makar. Pick up Makar and go through the door. Set Makar on one of the switches and then move Link onto the other one.

Now take Makar and fall down beneath the fan blade. Pick up Makar and take him through the locked door. Kill all of the enemies in this room and then use Link to Hookshot to the switch on a ledge near the top of the room. Use the Iron Boots to press the switch and then take Makar through the next door.

Kill the enemies and then take control of Makar. Fly across the cyclone and plant a seed in the path of soil. Switch to Link and use the Hookshot on the tree to make it to Makar. Kill all of the creatures and then carry Makar through the door.

In this room push the center block forward in order to block the two Blade Traps on one side of the room. Now push one of the other blocks forward - being sure to equip the Iron Boots or get blown back - until it falls into the hole. Push the last block across the one in the hole and block the last Blade Trap.

Now go back and pick up Makar - run pass all of the Blade Traps and into the room with the stone tablet. Play the Wind God's Aria to unlock the passage to the Wind Temple boss. Before entering the boss door, break the wood atop of the cauldron. Refill Link's health with items from the pots and enter the boss door.

Wind Temple Boss: Molgera

To defeat Molgera be sure to stand a safe distance away and target the creatures blue tongue once it appears. Use the Hookshot to pull it towards Link and then attack it with the sword. Eventually Molgera will start flying around the room - just dodge the creature until it digs back into the sand.

Now wait for Molgera's tongue to appear once more and use the Hookshot on it. Attack it with the sword to damage the boss. Repeat this process several times to defeat the boss of the Wind Temple. Grab the Heart Container and then walk into the portal.
