Home > How Bombs Work in Skyward Sword
From a recent Iwata Asks article, we have found out information about how bombs will work in Zelda: Skyward Sword.
Tanaka:
When it comes to the bombs, if you swing the Wii Remote Plus from above, you throw one, but if you swing it from below, you roll it. And you can put a spin on them.
Iwata:
You can spin the bombs?
Tanaka:
Yes.
The first thing we have learned is that you can throw bombs by swinging the Wii Remote Plus from above. The more interesting thing is that you can now roll the bombs similar to a bowling ball. This should be very useful throughout Skyward Sword.
Aonuma:
But getting it in the UI was pretty hard, because the arrow needs to bend so sharply on the screen.
Tanaka:
That's true. The bomb will curve in the direction you rotate the Wii Remote, so there's an arrow on the ground showing that direction.
Interesting, now we know that the aiming is not going to be blindly -- there will be an arrow displayed on screen showing you where the bombs will go. This same arrow will show you where the bombs will go when throwing them also. Put both the arrow feature and rolling bombs together and this is looking very handy. That is not the biggest thing either, let us continue...
Aonuma:
Originally, you bought bombs at shops or picked them from Bomb Flowers growing from the ground, and then you used them, but this time, you can pick them from a Bomb Flower and put them in a bag.
Iwata:
You can gather bombs?
Aonuma:
Yes. (laughs) At first, I thought, "Huh?! Is that all right?!" but when I actually did it, it felt incredibly natural. I've been involved with The Legend of Zelda games for a long time, so again I'm frustrated that I never hit on that idea before.
Wow, you can now store bomb flowers in your bag! This is going to come in VERY USEFUL for those situations where you would otherwise have difficulty throwing a bomb flower in the correct place. The new mechanic's of bombs in Skyward Sword is looking to make for a very interesting game. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
