Spoiler: The latest episode of GT.TV features Nintendo's Bill Trinen as he shows off some new aspects of a A Link Between Worlds such as the Fire Rod and the Ice Ruins. Upon upgrading the Fire Rod - you can "shoot" out larger and larger "Fire Tornadoes" toward the enemies that will "mow them down." The Fire Rod is used in the Ice Ruins to melt ice and unlock new areas. The Ice Ruins features elevators that the player uses to travel up and down between the floors. Bill Trinen also states that items can be upgraded more then once.
