How to Travel To and Through Lake Floria
Silent Realm
When you dive into Faron, choose the In the Woods statue. The enemies in the forest are a little stronger now, but you should be equipped to deal with them. Head forward along the worn path and you'll find a bombable wall. Blow it up and you'll find Heart Piece #11 in the little alcove here.
Head to the northeast corner of the woods towards the Deep Woods. In front of the viewing platform, you'll see some butterflies around the dirt area here. Take out your harp and perform Farore's Courage with Fi. A symbol will appear on the ground. This serves as a gate into the first trial.
Thrust your sword into the ground here and you will enter Farore's Silent Realm. Here you will get a Spirit Vessel. You'll need to fill this vessel with 15 Tears of Farore which can be found all around the Silent Realm.
There are also creatures called Guardians that will try to stop you from collecting the tears. If they attack you, you'll need to start the trial over. With each tear you collect, they will leave you alone for 90 seconds. There are also lantern-wielding creatures called Watchers that will immediately summon Guardians to you. If you enter the pools of water (called Waking Water), Guardians will also come after you.
Refer to this map for the locations of the tears. If you fail at any point, any tears you previously collected will also appear on your map. Collect the Light Fruit and they will also illuminate the path to a new tear. You should also be looking out for Dusk Relics in here, which are treasures that can only be found in these Silent Realms.
You can also check out a video guide to this Silent Realm below.
When you've collected all 15 Tears of Farore, head back to the gate of the Silent Realm. Here your trial will be completed and you will get the Water Dragon's Scale. With this item, you will now be able to swim underwater.
The Great Tree
If you speak to Bucha here he will suggest that you use your new swimming ability to explore some of the water areas in the woods. There is a water pond nearby that you can dive into to find an underwater path through the tree's root system. Just head straight down this path for a while and you'll eventually end up inside the Great Tree.
Once you reach this open water area, climb up the nearby vines. There are two swinging platforms here. The key to using them is to use your gust bellows to swing them either closer or farther away from you. Hop on the first and then swing this platform towards the south enough that you can make the jump.
From here, you can circle around the sides of this tree and make your way to the top. Near the top, a Quadro Baba will block your way, it's easiest to defeat it with a bomb. Your reward for getting up here is a chest that contains 300 rupees. Afterward, make your way to the exit on the west, if you are careful you can just drop down so you don't have to mess with the swinging platforms again.
Begin using the platforms to make your way up the outside of the tree. You'll notice there are some small birds on some of the platforms. If you are very sneaky, you can actually use your bug net on them to get some Bird Feather treasures.
When you reach the vines, make sure to shoot down the Walltulas before climbing. On the second set of vines, you can use the hook beetle to pick up the nearby hornet's nest and drop it near you to get some more Hornet Larvae. Either way, make your way up the vines and enter the tree once again.
On this narrow ledge is a new enemy, a Moblin. They are pretty slow and easy to dodge but have powerful attacks and a lot of health. You don't have much room to work with, so a good strategy is tossing some bombs from afar. Continue through the next opening ahead when it has been defeated.
Use the bird statue here and then continue forward and you will be rushed by Bokoblins. They are easy to defeat, but be careful not to get knocked off the ledge. Continue ahead and up the vines to get to the top of the tree. Here you will spot a sleeping Kikwi on a branch. Shoot it with your slingshot to wake it up.
The Kikwi will introduce himself as Yerbal. He will tell you about Farore's Flame. He gives you a hint about how to opening the gate in Lake Floria and marks a spot on your map.
Before we head there, there are three Goddess Cubes in this tree that we can reach. First, head down the tree a little bit to the next small viewing area. Just past this, you can hang from the ledge and drop down onto a platform. Here you can cross the tightrope onto another platform and find Goddess Cube #13. Activate it with a Skyward Strike.
You'll need to get back to the bird statue at the top of the tree, either by climbing back up or going to the sky and coming back down at that statue. Continue up the tree a little bit and look down off the edge where you'll see another platform leading to the cube. Carefully line up your jump to land there. If you hang from the ledge first, it's a bit easier to line up the drop. From here simply give Goddess Cube #14 a Skyward Strike.
Make your way to the bird statue at the top of the tree one more time. From here, just drop down to the platform below just northwest of the statue. You should see the cube from here, just drop down onto the next platform until you make it. Strike Goddess Cube #15 with a Skyward Strike to activate it.
Next, we are heading towards Lake Floria. You can get a look at the symbol we need to draw on the marked spot on your map if you'd like. Otherwise, head as far south on your map as you can go and you'll see this gate blocking a narrow path.
Prepare a Skyward Strike at the gate, but you'll instead be able to draw on the door. Fill in the circle to the left (it doesn't need to be perfect) and the gate will open. Run ahead and dive off this ledge to enter Lake Floria.
Lake Floria
As soon as you hop into the lake, the current will take over a waterfall into a new area. You will come across members of an aquatic race here called Parella. Continue through this area and you'll run into a Parella named Jellyf that runs from you behind a wooden blockade. You'll have to do a spin move to break it down.
Apparently, something is wrong with the Water Dragon and Jellyf will ask for your help. Continue to follow her into an open area, where a boulder will block the path forward. Use the bird statue while you are here. To clear the path ahead, do a spin attack into a Froak to send it exploding into the boulder. There are several other boulders that you can do this to here to net you some small rewards. Most notably, 100 rupees from the large boulder in the center of the room.
Continue down the newly opened path and you'll run into a gate that you can't go through. Instead, do a spin jump (spin attack as you are angled towards the top of the water) to leap up and over it. When Jellyf sneaks through a small crack in the stone do another spin jump and land on top of some solid ground.
To the left here is a bird statue and a chest containing a Goddess Plume. On the other side, you will find Goddess Cube #16. Activate it with a Skyward Strike. Afterward, jump back into the water and continue following Jellyf.
There is another barrier to spin jump over before you'll run into some weird shark enemies called Cranioc. They can be defeated with two spin attacks. Follow Jellyf to the large door here and she will open it for you. Use a spin jump to get on the center platform in this room and speak to the Water Dragon, who is sitting on an unusual throne.
It turns out her name is Faron. She will tell you about how she was attacked by Ghirahim and wants you to collect some Sacred Water to help her heal. Fi will register the sacred water so you can dowse for it.
Hop out of the water onto the east side of this room and follow the path to find a chest containing a rare treasure. If you repeat the same process on the other side of the room you'll find a chest containing 100 rupees. Take the exit out of this room to the north.
You'll find yourself at the serene Floria Waterfall. Use the bird statue here. You can also play your harp where the butterflies are here to summon a gossip stone. Take the exit to your right and you'll emerge back in the south of Faron Woods. Push down the log here to make a shortcut.
The Sacred Water we need to find is actually inside the Skyview Temple. You can either make your way back there by navigating the Faron Woods and Deep Woods, or you can use a bird statue to return to the sky and then drop down right at the temple. We recommend going through the woods if you want to stock up on some treasures that can be found here, like Hornet Larvae.
Sacred Water
Once you are back inside Skyview Temple, you might notice there are some new enemies in here. They will make it a little harder to progress to the end of the temple again, but progress we must. Head down this first corridor and you'll notice some butterflies. Play the harp here and a symbol will appear on the wall and the Mogma Kortz will appear. You can charge a Skyward Strike and draw on this wall, summoning whatever goodies that you draw. Try drawing a triforce and you'll get 3 fairies.
Head through the window on the right to enter the large room here. There are Bokoblin Archers in here, so watch out for those. The main door has been locked again, so head through the door on the right. Here you'll run into Kortz again and he'll claim he buried a key around here.
Hop into the water and swim through the small opening along the wall here. In the next room, climb up the vines and continue forward to find a soft spot. Here you can dig up a Small Key. Head back into the large room and use this key on the door to the north.
Defeat the enemies here if you'd like but otherwise just run straight through this room and exit to the north (go around if you don't have this shortcut). In this room, there are two archers guarding the tightrope. Hide behind the mushroom here and send your hook beetle out to grab the bomb above and drop it on them.
Head across the tightrope and you'll talk to Kortz one final time on the other side. Save at the bird statue here, because there is a mini-boss through the boss door. You won't need the key to open it again, so just head inside.
The mini-boss here is three Stalfos. They aren't too hard to defeat but require some patience as they all approach you at once and block from different directions. Just methodically slash at the correct angles while slowing backing away. Try to target one at a time if you can. Once all three have been defeated the door to the north will open.
Through this door, you'll find yourself back at Skyview Spring. Use your dowsing ability here to see that the Sacred Water is located in the northwest corner. Use an empty bottle to scoop it up and get Sacred Water. You will automatically be taken out of the temple once you collect it.
Make your way back to the Water Dragon by going back up to the sky and then dropping down at the Floria Waterfall bird statue. Head back through the cave entrance and spin jump out of the water to the center platform. Speak to the Water Dragon and you will pour the water on her.
She will take her full form after being healed by the water and take you to the entrance of the next dungeon. She blocks the waterfall that was previously preventing entry. You can go ahead and enter the Ancient Cistern now if you'd like, but there are a few more things we can collect up in the Sky first.
Skyloft Pit Stop
Head back to the sky, where there are now four Goddess Chests for us to open. From the Faron region, head southwest in the sky to a tiny island with a volcano-like opening. You'll want to dive into this opening and quickly aim for the higher ledge here. If you are having trouble getting to the higher ledge, there is an item we get later that will make this much easier and you can wait. Otherwise, open the Goddess Chest to get Heart Piece #12. If you are following this guide, this should complete another heart container.
Next, we are heading back into the Thunderhead, so follow the blue beam of light into the northwest region of the map. From here there is a small island in the northeast portion of this region. Drop onto it and climb up the vines (killing the Walltulas first) to reach a Goddess Chest containing the Rupee Medal. There is another normal chest on this island that contains a piece of treasure.
The next two chests are in Skyloft, so make your way back there. There is a tiny island to the west of Skyloft, just south of the Knight Academy. Jump off the wooden platform here to land on the island, no Loftwing required. Open the Goddess Chest here to get 100 rupees.
Head over to the east side of the island and hop into the water near the waterfall. Swim underwater and you'll notice a small cavern to the west. Go through this and you'll end up in a storage shed. There is a chest here that contains 100 rupees, as well as the Goddess Chest which contains Heart Piece #13.
The last thing to do is head back to the Bazaar. If you've been following the guide, you now should have come across at least one of every treasure in the game. This means you'll likely have some items you can upgrade. From here on out you should just upgrade whatever you can as you are able. If there is something specific you want, you can go grind for a particular treasure.
A useful upgrade to acquire now is the upgraded Sacred Shield: the Divine Shield. It costs 1 Dusk Relic, 2 Bird Feathers, 3 Ornamental Skulls, and 100 rupees. I was also able to upgrade my Bug Net, Slingshot, and Beetle at this point.
Visit the Item Check to get your loadout ready for the next dungeon. You can carry whatever you'd like. Our loadout was the Sacred/Divine Shield, Rupee Medal, Heart Medal, Life Medal, Treasure Medal, and three bottles. Inside the bottles were two fairies and a Revitalizing Potion (heals your shield).
When you are ready, take to the skies and head back to the Faron region. Choose the Floria Waterfall bird statue and enter the fourth dungeon, the Ancient Cistern.
